Glow · Lens diffraction · Anamorphic streaks · Lens dirt

Every light has a shape.

Nx Radiance is a physically based glow and lens-effects engine. Clean bloom for titles and motion graphics, or the glare of a real lens for camera footage, one switch apart. GPU accelerated in every host.

Two looks, one switch

Graphic for titles. Physical for pictures.

Glowing line shapes, a ring, a triangle and two bars, in the Graphic look
Graphic

Bloom the way designers expect.

The default. A clean bloom laid over the picture: bright type blooms to white, neon reads as neon, and the glow can spill past the edge of a transparent layer. Tint it by colour, from core to halo, or by intensity.

Physical

Glare that belongs to the lens.

A lens model. Light is redistributed from the source into the surrounding glow instead of being added on top, so cores stay tight, the halo falls off the way real veiling glare does, and the glow sits inside camera footage rather than on it.

Optics, not overlays

Built from how light actually behaves.

Colour that separates by wavelength, stars that come from the aperture, streaks that stretch like an anamorphic lens. Every effect is computed from the light in your frame.

Chromatic spread

Every wavelength spreads its own way.

In a real lens, red light scatters further than blue, which is why a hot white source wears a warm outer halo. Radiance spreads its glow by wavelength, gives each channel its own radius, and can split the colours apart for a stronger fringe.

Streaks and starbursts

Anamorphic streaks. Real starbursts.

Horizontal streaks with their own colour, length, angle and chromatic spread. Starbursts come from the aperture: set the blade count and the rays follow the same rule as a real iris, while lens glare adds the faint rings and rainbow fringes a bladed aperture really produces.

Image-based glow

Shape light with any image.

Give Radiance a picture and every highlight takes its shape: a heart, a hexagon, a brush stroke, your logo. Build it from up to twenty nested copies for an iris-shaped bloom, or use the image as the aperture and let its diffraction become the glow.

Lens dirt

Dirt that catches light.

Lens dirt that stays invisible until light reaches it, the way a smudge on a real front element does. Use the built-in texture or your own, and it lights up only around the sources that hit it.

Tone mapping

Eight ways to land a highlight.

How a highlight rolls off is half of what makes it look expensive. Soft Clip leaves the picture alone and rolls only the glow into the headroom. Film, ACES Filmic, Filmic, Hable Filmic, Reinhard and Reinhard Extended shape the whole image or just the glow, and Chroma Clamp keeps brightness while reining in colour that runs too hot.

In the pipeline

Made for real footage and real deliveries.

24 input encodings

Rec.709 and sRGB through the major camera log formats to linear ACEScg. Glow is light, so Radiance works in linear light.

32-bit float, end to end

Nothing clips on the way through. Highlight Boost restores energy to clipped or compressed SDR highlights so bright sources still glow convincingly.

Fast. GPU accelerated.

Metal, CUDA and OpenCL keep it quick enough to leave on while you edit, and the CPU path shares the same rendering architecture for consistent results everywhere.

Any resolution

Every spatial control scales with the frame, so a look designed on a proxy stays consistent at 4K, 8K and beyond.

Titles and transparency

Glow Only and Glow + Alpha outputs for compositing, with glow that can extend beyond the edges of a transparent layer.

See what it’s doing

Render View shows what feeds the glow, the glow on its own, the lens dirt, or the lens response of your current settings.
