What’s new with Nx Radiance?

The first release of Nx Radiance, a physically based glow and lens-effects engine for DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro and Motion.

Available on macOS and Windows, with Final Cut Pro and Motion supported on macOS.

From clean motion-graphics bloom to physically modeled lens glow, diffraction and flare in a single effect.

What’s included in 1.0.0

• Two distinct looks. Graphic, the default, creates a clean additive bloom for titles, logos, neon and motion graphics. Physical models glow as part of the lens: light is redistributed from the source into the surrounding glow instead of simply being added on top, helping it sit naturally inside the shot.
• Built for camera footage. Radiance works in linear light with 24 input encodings, from Rec.709 and sRGB through the major camera log formats to linear ACEScg. Highlight Boost restores perceptual energy to clipped or compressed SDR highlights so bright sources can produce convincing glow.
• Anamorphic streaks and starbursts. Create horizontal lens streaks or aperture-driven stars with control over colour, length and chromatic spread.
• Aperture-driven glow. Generate diffraction spikes, rings and spectral fringes from a bladed aperture, or use any image as the shape of the glow. Up to 20 nested copies can build complex iris-shaped glow structures.
• Lens dirt. Add procedural dirt or use your own image. Dirt becomes visible only where incoming light illuminates it.
• Deep colour control. Wavelength-based chromatic spread, independent channel radii, RGB Split, plus tinting by colour, distance or intensity.
• Highlight tone mapping. Shape extreme light with Soft Clip, Film, ACES Filmic, Filmic, Hable Filmic, Reinhard, Reinhard Extended and Chroma Clamp.
• Made for titles and transparency. Dedicated Glow Only and Glow + Alpha outputs, with glow that can extend beyond the bounds of a transparent layer.
• Resolution-independent looks. Every spatial control scales with the frame, so a look designed on a proxy stays consistent at 4K, 8K and beyond.
• Consistent across hosts and hardware. Metal, CUDA, OpenCL and CPU share the same rendering architecture for consistent results across supported applications and systems.

Licensing

One perpetual license activates two machines and includes all supported hosts. The free download is fully functional and renders with a watermark until a license key is entered.
