About Nx Color

Tools for people who care about the image.

Nx Color is an independent creative software company developing tools for color, image processing, and visual effects.

It began with a fascination for the way images are formed — the character of film, the behavior of light, the imperfections that make an image feel alive, and the mathematics hidden beneath all of it.

That fascination became software.

Today, Nx Color develops native tools for DaVinci Resolve, Adobe, and Final Cut Pro, alongside the DCTL tools that started the journey.

The goal has remained the same: to make sophisticated image-making techniques accessible without getting in the way of the person using them.

A different approach to image making

We are interested in what happens beneath the interface.

Color science. Film processes. Signal processing. Computer vision. Computational photography. Rendering.

These disciplines offer ideas that can change the way an image behaves, not simply the way it looks.

Nx Color brings those ideas into tools designed for real creative work — tools that are precise when they need to be, intuitive when they can be, and deliberately free of unnecessary complexity.

We don’t believe every problem needs another slider.
Sometimes it needs a better algorithm.

Independent

Nx Color is independently developed by Naveen Chandran.

Being independent allows us to work on ideas that might not fit a conventional product roadmap, to spend time on the difficult details, and to build technology around the image rather than around a category.

The products are developed closely with the people who use them.

Their feedback, criticism, and curiosity are an important part of the process.

Where we’re going

The original Nx Color tools were built for a single host.
The next generation is being built for a much larger creative ecosystem.

Native plugins. New approaches to color and image processing. Computer vision. Relighting. Tools that explore the boundary between traditional post-production and modern computational imaging.

Some of these ideas are practical.
Some are experimental.

All of them start with the same question:
Can we make the image do something it couldn’t do before?
